Towers:”Its Been A Whirlwind Twelve Months”

After beating Chris Woolas in June of 2009 and Howard Daley the following month both on points Richard “The Inferno” Towers has burned through the opposition like a bush fire,halting his next six opponents in less than 3 rounds.

September, Richard’s 3rd fight, Chris Woolas fancied a second chance and probably wished he hadn’t ,Woolas was dropped to the canvas in rounds 1 and 2 before referee Ian John Lewis waived it off after 1:48 of the 2nd round.

October and tough Pole Michal Skierniewski was next,but after sustaining a cut along the left eye from a powerful Towers left hook it would only be a matter of time before Towers finally broke him,the referee had seen enough and halted the fight before the third round.

Towers was back in front of his home crowd by December and finished the year off with an explosive 1st round knockout of Lee Mountford,Mountford hit the canvas twice and failed to beat the count as he was dropped heavily for a third.

April 2010 and now the boxing fraternity was taking notice of big Richard Towers who was quickly signed up by the “Hitman”, Ricky Hatton.The usually durable Bulgarian heaavyweight Yavor Marinchev was down 3 times in the 2nd round from a head and body assault and the fight was waived off by referee Steve Gray.Sky Sports aired the fight and Towers was now well on his way.

Czech Heaveyweight Ladislav Kovarik ventured into Towers territory The Steel City of Sheffield.Ponds Forge International Sports Centre was the venue  and a sell out crowd had come to watch sheffields finest boxers.A beautiful day in May turned into a balmy evening.Towers did not disappoint,Kovarik was down early in the round from a concussive right hook,but came back with all guns firing.Towers opened up a vicious assault and dropped the Czech  flat on his back with a right cross .The fight failed to last 2 minutes.Towers had arrived!
